Best bike for £300

Hi,
I need help. I want to buy my first good bike but don't know which one is good, which one got best groupset. I have to spend £300, maybe it's not a lot but please help me choose best value for money!!
I need bike to get to work and for weekends trips. I found website where they offer 0% finance. Maybe you know any other websits?

At a minimum, I'd want an alu fork and acera or alivio group set. That said, I think you may need more than £300 for those

Not a road bike but my Dad recently got one of these and he loves it for comutting, full mud gaurds and rear rack, had a go and it rides well.

No contest. For £300 you just can't beat the Triban 3.
If it is in spiffing condition, at £200 with Shimano 501's I would say that justkeeppedaling's T3 is a terrific buy.

sounds like you should tear his limbs off! i bought a second hand bike for £300 and i never regretted it. it gets more outings than my "posh" bike because its so comfortable to ride. if it's in good nick, you should grab it.

Where are you based?

What size frame?

How strong are the tendons in your shoulders? How hard do I have to pull for the arm to break off?
