Best brake pads for cantilevers?

Well I have just fitted a set of Kool Stop V-Stop holder dual compound brake shoes to my Surly Long Haul Trucker. First rides with them are positive (squealing significantly reduced for starters; feel is not to bad) but I am yet to test them in the rain.

If you are going to go for the Shorty Ultimates, they already come with the Swisstop GHPII compound pads (which makes them much better value than they seem ay first sight) which IME is a superb wet weather compound and kind to rims too.
