If it's just during the day, and no need for multiple days, then a compact 5,000mah will suffice

I have an Anker Version of this (now discontinued by Anker)

It's compact enough to be able to strap under the bars and have it plugged into your GPS - I have a MK1 Edge Explore that will do 5 hours navigating, but not 8, so have used this bike packing where I can recharge at night. If you want multiple day power, but don't need 'on the go' charge, then a bigger 20,000 will give 3-4 smart phone charges.

The GPS doesn't take much to charge and as @Ming the Merciless says, it will charge a GPS for a number of days as these have much smaller batteries (sub 1,000mah) hence why a dedicated GPS is better for navigating than a smart phone due to power requirements.

Which highlights the point made. Those weights are just a typical ballpark for 10,000mAh.

Most 10,000mah powerbanks are in the 220-260g range which is around 40% heavier than the Flextail and Nitecore lightweight units.

This one has worked really well for me and my Dad who bought one on my advice:

Particularly like the fast charge and the percentage charge that is displayed.

Anker Powercore for touring. A cheapy AliExpress Jobby for day-to-day local use.

Both are 20000 mah and provide 5-6 full iPhone charges and then some.

I've got three power banks; one from Wilko about 7 years ago, two from Aldi one of which is also a handwarmer. They're different sizes and capacities but they all ultimately do the same job... charge devices. Only difference is how many full charges each bank holds.

The Wilko power bank has two outputs, one at 1amp, the other at 2amps. My phone is currently at 50% and either of those outputs will take 50 minutes to charge the phone (according to the phone).

Veger and Anker both have same in same weight range. Since the chemistry is the same, it is just amount of material in casing etc. but even the heaviest is piddling when touring. You hsve three times the weight in a full water bottle.
