I have to agree with Tynan. "Best" is pretty vague. I like the Conti Sport Contact. They last a long time, roll well, grip well, but puncture resistance is only so-so. HOWEVER...my commute is all on hard surface, and not many puncture-creating obstacles. If my commute included gravel, or dirt paths, or back alleys, I'm sure I'd prefer a different tyre. I hear many good things about Schwalbe Marathons, and the Gatorskins, and, perhaps if they made them in a slick, I'd be interested, but for MY commute, I really don't need all that tread.
