Best cycling city for 2010

Is Bristol apparently ..

or at least it is in the cycling plus magazine, yet in last months magazine Bristol was getting slagged of for not spending the 23 million £££'s it recieved for its cycling city status ?

Well, maybe the competition wasn't too stiff, Simon. Brighton was a cycling city and the only visible signs were 2 useless cycle lanes.
How did they judge it? Cycle lanes, decent drivers, lack of hills?

Lots of criteria, some valid, some ridiculous like how many sportives are within 1 hours drive. York wasn't even in the top 20!!!!

I don't think they have spent that much money on paint - I can't think of very much painted lines going in anywhere in the city. The paths they are working on tend to be improving muddy tracks (not running beside roads) that join up areas that are useful. There are a couple of paths next to busy roads that they are working on too but no not painted lanes.
