On my first 30 miler I got to the top of Leeds road from Otley after a coffee stop and a energy gel, got to the top and felt like I was on the tour, dropped 2 riders and just got to Leeds outer ring road and noticed cones covering one lane, too good to miss so started in that lane, for 2-3 miles I had a whole lane to myself, passing motorists with a massive grin on my face. Wonderful.

The first time I broke 800miles for a month (872 miles in June) was a great feeling. :wahhey:

Next challenge is to break 900 miles for a month and to also do my first full 100miles in a day (my best in one day being 80 miles).
I want to work up to doing one century a month. :bicycle:

Oh, and doing 7245 miles so far on my first full year commuting has been a high point for me as well.

Sounds like you forgot to rescue your girlfriend! :headshake:

You know that feeling when you know you have forgotten something....

That all sorted itself out as well in that having fully-comp insurance we were covered, and the crack wasn't nearly as bad as it was made out to be! Still claiming it was the tailwind that sorted everything!

I did a long ride (100 miles a day over 12 days) this year and the best feeling i have ever had on a bike came at the end of pretty much each days riding as we cruised into each new town, following the sat nav, watching the last mile drop away and purring along as a pack, sweeping through town all full of adrenaline and the sense of achievement.

I had this ridiculous feeling of a returning samurai, parading through town towards our destination. It helped to have a welcome party waiting at the hotel each day.

Will always remember that feeling....bloody awesome.

If anyone fancies a taste, my blog is here

My quote from the blog,

"...The sensation of rolling through each town at the end of each long day is wonderful. We sweep with purpose, in a tight group all moving fluidly to the stop and roll up feeling very much as if we have earned our stay.

Jen is always on the door, cheering as we arrive, making us feel even more like the returning warriors. Its a great sensation and one that I shall miss when this trip is done.... "

Getting to and from work in the snow last winter on my bike.

Everyone else at work did nothing but moan for days about delays and chaos on the road.

My journey only took 5 mins longer than normal, no drama.

It's like you and your bike know a little secret that no one else knows

I was, unusually for me, dropping in at an indoor shopping centre for an errand. As I wheeled in Mr Foldy I could see a jobsworth security guard coming to tell me bikes arent allowed. I folded and bagged my Dahon before he managed to bumptiously amble over. Ruined his day. Its the small things sometimes......
