Best Front rear lights for £50?

..the time has come when I NEED to put some lights on the Bianchi for those evening rides as the sun goes down etc....I can t be bothered to keep switching lights across from the other bike so I need a good front/rear set iro £50 for both that arnt going to weigh a ton or look bad ..I saw the above...anybody suggest a better route for the cash?..I like the rear light (already have one of thos eon the galaxy) but the front one ..erm..x4 AA???!...dunno...sounds heavy

I went for Cateye 410 front light for my Bianchi as I didn't want anything too heavy and didn't want to be leaving brackets, its a nice light in an emergency that I carry round in my wedge bag. For my rear I used to have a smart 1/2 watt clipped to my wedge bag, great except when it rained heavy it refused to turn off, I now have a Mars 4 and its a super bright light.

Wiggle put their prices up a lot recently so the Mars 4 isn't quite the superbargain is was 1-2 months ago. Best value rear on wiggle now is the smart 1/2 watt. The TL-610 (and it's older 600) are fine but the 610 is overpriced at wiggle now imho.

If you do buy that bundle you're saving though so might as well get the 610. Look for a el-530 on ebay or something, those prices are a bit high to me.

The Smart 1/2 watt is really bright from what I've seen though it's worth bearing in mind that you could buy at least half a dozen of the 'kidney' style lights in Sainsburys (£1.19 each) at the moment for the same money. They are pretty decent and even come with batteries, making them almost disposable at the price.

For the front I'd go for Tesco torches but only because I'm cheap. From what I've read the EL520 is quite a focused beam (not really that different to a torch, though I must stress I haven't used one) which may not be ideal for a single light. My complete overkill lighting setup for the front is 2 Tesco torches on the bars and one on my helmet - you'll see me coming.

Well I got the Cateye TL610 for the rear and the Cateye 410 for the front, arrived to today, jus tneed to fit them on the bianchi for those dusk to dark rides as the summer evening come on.

Both are bright enough.

Get a couple of cheap flashy things as well (Tesco's version of the Sigma Micro) - I have the Sigma and the Tesco !!!

I've got to say that as an owner of a Dinotte 5W and a Tesco torch setup....go with a Tesco torch.
