Having been hit twice by cars at junctions ( I did not see you mate)
I am looking at personel accident insurance so I can claim against the car drivers insurance
without involving the "get rich quick brigade"(a story to tell there !)
Not bothered re theft of bike as they probably would not be interested in my BSO

Any opinions on Insurance Companies for this type of cover

Cheers

Have a look at ETA. Cheap and quite good. CTC do collision insurance (but not theft unless you pay extra) in with their membership.

If you purely want access to solicitors, take a look at some clauses in your other insurance policies. Sounds, weird, but I know of friends who have had a 'accident' where they decided to seek a claim. Both went to Russell Jones and Walker, and on both occasions RJW did some digging for them and found one was covered through their car insurance 'extras', and another through their private healthcare 'extras'.

Apparently they were both told its quite common for the solicitors to find some policy that will cover their costs. For me it would be my Police Federation subs. Therefore it worth researching before paying out, if that's all you are after - though both CTC and British Cycling are worth the money.

Household insurance also often includes Legal Expenses cover.

Personal Accident insurance compensates you for specified injuries, so although it's something else you might want to consider, it won't pay your legal bills (not directly anyway).

My household insurance (Hiscox in this instance, but i claimed for theft previously from Norwich union) hsve good bike cover and rarely quibble over fine print on any claim.
In my 2010 smidsy, i claimed the replacement bike on my household policy just as soon as i was able to ride again and they in turn liaised with my CTC insurer (RJW) to subrogate the claim against the Smidsy drivers' insurance.

CTC/RJW were excellent: accident in April full payout before the end of the year.

If you are in London the LCC also offer insurance with their membership

Correct apart from the fact you do not have to live/work in London to qualify. I specifically asked this question before joining LCC and they assured me there were no residential requirements and that in fact they had members nationwide and even abroad.
