They were heavy as a tank! I presume what it lacked in acceleration, it made up for by travelling in straight lines through many buildings and coming out the other side unscathed?

I doubt it. My dad got one brand new as a company car...by the time he'd driven it home from the showroom bits were already starting to fall off. And no, he hadn't driven it through any buildings.
