The most impressive thing about Morse's car was the teleport enabling it to move instantaneously between one Oxford landmark and another one somewhere entirely different. And possibly also the invisibility cloak which made it undetectable to traffic wardens no matter where it was illegally parked
He could also enter a door in one college and appear in another part of the university across town. That was almost as big a mystery as why the number of people dying in Midsummer is 256x the average per capita.

I think D reg was the last year of the Capri and I can only remember them all being 2.8 injections .

D plate some were 280 Brooklands versions. doubt plod would have bought a 280. a 2.8 injec yes , but they were pigs to drive.
E plate - all 280 Brooklands. there is the odd F and apparently a G plate .http://www.fordcapriforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11453
