A regular puncture patch inside can save a tyre as long as the carcass damage isn't too big.

Yesterday a cobbler showed me a nifty trick for repairing those vertical cracks you get in the uppers of leather shoes where they bend at your toe. He placed a bead of cyanoacrylate in the crack then reached to the back of his sanding wheel machine and took a pinch of leather dust, which he pressed into the crack. Later, he told me, he would re-finish it with the polishing wheel.
