Best way to tell if you need another bike?

I can't remember which bike forum it was from... but someone had written:
'My Biggest Fear Is That When I Die My Wife Will Sell My Bicycles For What I Told Her They Cost.'

On the other hand, one of the old Raleigh slogans was along the lines of: 'One for roads, one for loads.'
There's a nice simplicity to that, and I'd be happy to live with only two,
