Went to a point to point once with my daughters. Decide we would have £10 each and see who had the most money at the end of the day. Never made it to the end. "I can't feel my fingers", "I can't feel my feet" and eventually "I can't feel my face". Enough I said when one of them said "that man is having an epileptic fit" HE'S THE TICK TACK MAN.

A friend of mine is a full time professional gambler, a mixture of sports betting and online poker. I don't quite understand the full ins and outs of it, but he rides a very nice bike, lives in a nice house and is brilliant to have on your team for the sports pub quiz.

Does he get a round in?

I used to work at Blackburn Greyhound Stadium in the early 80's. I think Blackburn and Bolton dog tracks were owned by the same firm. Blackburn's was knocked down about 20 odd years ago to build a Tesco on. I don't suppose Bolton's is still standing, is it? I remember the "stadium" was mostly made out of wood. When the wind blew the main stand swayed from side to side. It would be condemned now as a fire hazard!
It disappeared about the same time as Blackburn's, there's a Porsche showroom on part of the land.

I used to enjoy occasional visits to the local track but haven't been in years. I'm just not a natural gambler I suppose. I don't really see much point in it. Yes you might win, but....

I like the challenge of a big win from small stakes I had two 50p lucky 15s up in 09 with big price horses won £2,500 off each and traded my old banger in for a new motor with the governments £2.000 trade in added I do correct score bets on the footy aswell got three 2.2s up a while back for 50p singles doubles and treble got £2047 for that .I had no option from a early age our house backed onto the racecourse and I used to write out my blind grandads bet when I was a kid

I have no idea what that means - I am guessing accumulators?

I used to enjoy opening the envelopes when the Premium Bonds paid out almost every month, but good things don't last forever:sad:

I've never bought a lottery ticket and only once placed a bet on the Boat Race forty years ago. I never quite got round to picking up my winnings. Fifty pence.

I've lost thousands on the Stock Market but I've made a bit more. Not much. Generally, I really don't trust myself not go off the rails if I got into casual betting, so I have always avoided it. Someone said that if you have an addiction to drink, you become comatose and stop. With gambling, you can lose absolutely everything. Everything.
