When I was a small child, I abhorred vegetables and salad.
One day, my mum decided, probably for my own good, that it was time for "kill or cure" and virtually force fed me salad. I hated it, but managed to get it down until she gave me a piece of beetroot (mum liked the kind that comes in a jar - with vinegar?). I barfed all over the place and have never again knowingly eaten raw beetroot. I may have eaten cooked beetroot in some kind of stew or food dressing, but would not eat it by choice, if it were in an identifiable form.
But I did eventually grow out of the "I wont eat any fruit or vegetables" phase, and do now eat most things. But not beetroot, thanks!
