The only time you need your phone is after you crash. Why would any cyclist want to break their phone when they know they are going to need it. Phone goes in bag.

I often have my phone in my pocket but it's in a hard shell case to reduce the risk.

I seldom carry a phone.... because my cycling buddy GtiJunior always has his. When I do, it's a budget job I got for £2.99 and I don't really know how it works because the buttons are all blank.
