This is definitely a Marmite bike! There are a few later models kicking around but the 97-99 models like this one are mostly long scrapped, they often suffered cracked ally frames due to poor fitting loose seat posts and bottom brackets also cracking.
Completely standard other than seat & tyres.

I haven’t seen any others for sale in the last year since buying this model but would love to hear from anybody else who has one or had one in the past?

This looks like an American cruiser bike relabelled by Bianchi. Plenty for sale down here and some are quite ridable.

I have one, though I believe it may be a newer year based on your photos. I bought it in 2002, so I am not sure exactly. I haven't had any trouble with the frame, It's a little banged up, but I've ridden that bike across the US and now in Costa Rica. I finally found a local bike mechanic actually just today that can work on the internal hub for me. I still love it! I don't have photos on hand, but can post some for you once I get it back tomorrow or sunday.

It looks like it is the 2002 with a few little differences: pics later https://www.bikepedia.com/QuickBike/BikeSpecs.aspx?year=2002&brand=Bianchi &model=Auto-Milano
