I think mine are RWE (?) - the label is a bit knackered.

Really nice as they have a lot of separate sections in the all important padded area.

Some don't and ime crease up over time and become very uncomfortable.

Price/brand is not that relevant. It's a piece of clothing - what matters is comfort. You may find that very expensive brands simply don't fit you as well as cheap ones - you won't really know until you try. Obvious downside is that experimenting can get expensive.

Personally, bought Endura FS260 when I started cycling and it turned out to be a great fit. Never used cream, never had any sores - zero problems whatsoever, even on 8h+ rides.

You'll have to experiment.

My own experience is that any old shorts (I dont wear bibs) will do, and comfort is all about the saddle. But that's just me. Your experience will be different.

Another vote for ASSOS for me. Bought a couple of pairs 9 years ago for a long multi-week ride, still going strong, and never uncomfortable
