I've now bought a couple of pairs of bib shorts and done several long rides in them. I haven't noticed any appreciable difference from waist shorts so far, except that bibs are a right nuisance when making a sit-down trip to the toilet. So I'll probably stick mainly with waist shorts in the future.

For those who may be interested in Lusso bibshorts the current offer, this weekend only, is per spend:

£100- 20% discount
£200 - 25% discount
£300 - 30% discount

By combining our orders myself and a buddy got a £35 discount, each, on new bibs.

I suspect those £90 pair are probably very decent, but I'd need to get some in the sale to try them, as with my Castelli Endurance 3 shorts purchase from Sigma for less than £80 a pair I think it was, I know they'll work for me really well - plus, I suspect they would have better resale if for some reason that wasn't the case.

Dan, if you are still interested in these, Sigma have them at 20% off plus an additional extra 10% summer sale, so you can get them for £64 a pair. I didn't buy any myself, they do seem to be a high quality pair of shorts but the sizing is very odd. I tried a small which are allegedly for a 30" waist. As someone with a 28" waist I couldn't even get these more than half way up my thigh! They did not stock any size other than small or XL in Decathlon to try on, but the small were so tiny I suspect I may have even needed a large in these to fit properly.

main benefit is keeping the chills off your back when its colder , the days when the straps held up the shorts to prevent bunching are long gone with modern materials

When it's that cold I'll be wearing my bib longs. I see the benefit of bibs in the full-leg version, as I found that waist longs would bunch around the legs and start riding down at the waist, but never had that issue with shorts.

No.

I very rarely wear more than one layer over them, even in winter, and have never found them to rub.
Are your nipples very widely or closely spaced?!!!!
Mine are close to the straps of my bibshorts, and just occasionally a strap moves and by the end of a ride I'll have jogger's nipple.

Thankfully not a common problem; only had it once this year, and strangely was on one of the shorter rides (probably a 40 miler).

I must admit, I've never noticed. I *think* my nipples are under the straps, but I'll have to check next time I ride (probably Friday or Saturday)

Giordana used to be good in the Forma Red Carbon series, if still available
Giordana is excellent, and their FR-C range is undoubtedly in the Premier League for bibs.

Unusually, Giordana makes its proprietary pads and bibs in its factory in Italy—unlike many Instagram influencer brands that charge a massive markup for a chamois they buy from Elastic Interface.
