Bike claims on household insurance -share your stories

Great thread - well worth noting all the shenanigans with specified suppliers. With two custom bikes, one vintage and a self-build there'd not be a cats chance in hell of Wheelies, Halfords or any other big chain being capable of satisfying my requirements.

probably only my mtb is replaceable like for like.

my 1951 claud butler olympic sprint is rare as rocking horse droppings; my 531 steel road bike probably can't be replaced with anything similar new (steel these days is either gas pipe or exotic) and my main road bike started off as a carrera virtuoso but has since had all bar the frame and bars replaced by superior components, not to mention that the current bike of that name is not as good as mine was anyway.

thankfully they live in the cellar, so insurance claim is unlikely…
