I've lost 2 wireless cateye strada computers, one came out after hitting a big pothole at speed around Leith Hill this summer and was promptly squashed by a following car. The other one came off my commuter but I did'nt notice so is somewhere in central London.

Like you I've also run over and mangled some sunglasses I had taken off to wipe lenses and fumbled. And I had my old nokia E71 that I shoddily taped (my fault) to my handlebars to use as a GPS device that fell off doing laps of Richmond Park and again was runover and destroyed by following car. I've also done the comedy one of leaving my phone on the car roof at a garage while filling up and then driving off leaving it there, not realising till about an hour later where my phone was, it was'nt still on the roof.........:banghead:

More shoddy taping woes and my scariest was losing a torch I'd tape to hanlebars to use as a light when out on country lanes on a nightride in Wiltshire, I was going down a hill at a fair speed, it was pitch black and I hit a pothole, lost light and could'nt see a thing, and just braked and hoped I would'nt plunge off the road, luckily came to halt still on the road and retreived light which thankfully still worked.

So yeah blimey all in all a bit costly. I'm surprised I'm allowed out unaccompanied sometimes^_^

No, the car didn't run over the camera. I managed to retrieve it before that happened, although the camera didn't survive hitting the road, only its memory card.

When I was about 14 I bought a bike computer from Halfords, it was one of the expensive ones at the time, it was out of my price range really, but I decided to treat myself. I really looked forwards to using it!

Several hundred feet into it's maiden trip it fell off and was run over by a car just before I could rescue it.

£25 down the drain in the gutter right there and lesson learned!

The strange part for me is that I can always hear that faint noise when something hits the road a few yards behind. I lost a whole wedge saddle bag , with my back light, on the way to a start of a night ride a year ago. Somebody on the pavement yelled after me and rescued it before it was crushed. I went back to get it and thank him, and then went back again to give him a KitKat from my back pocket. I think he thought I was totally mad.
