I've been given a Cateye Strada CC-RD400DW Double wireless computer. Having installed it as per the instructions and per the videos on the Cateye website, i'm getting no readings on the actual computer screen, everything is just showing zero's.

Any ideas on what I can try to solve the problem?

I've found these to be a pig to set up in the past TBH.

All I could add is to keep messing about with the sensor positions and make sure you've got new batteries in as well.

FWIW I gave up with the Strada. Great little computer when it's working, but found it to be temperamental and ultimately too little, the screen proved to be just too small for me in the end.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I was thinking of replacing the batteries to be on the safe side. Which computer would you recommend?

Which computer would you recommend?

It depends on what info you want TBH.

The Strada is a great little computer, but I decided I also wanted GPS to be able to track rides. At the same time I didn't want to spend £££'s and had no need for HR, cadence or full colour mapping.

Therefore I went for a Garmin Edge 200, It does more than I'll ever need. Always me to download routes to it, it's very easy to set up and use, battery lasts ages and recharges via USB, all in all a great piece of kit.

I'd recommend one to anybody in a heartbeat

Thanks once again for the quick reply.

I just want one with the basics for now, i.e. speed, average and distance. Not to worried about cadence and HR (assuming that's Heart Rate). Don't want to spend a lot of money yet. I'm only just getting back into cycling, after more than 30 yrs. I've basically got my bike via a charity that supply bikes, you do their Bike Course (one day a week for 4 weeks) and get to keep the bike at the end of it.

Money is extremely tight at the moment, as I've just gone self employed, and the business is taking a while to get going, and taking all my spare cash.

I feel your pain buddy

If you don't get the Strada functioning I can also recommend the Count range of computers from Decathlon.

I bought a Count 8 whilst I was between computers last year, and whilst I only used it for a few weeks it was simply brilliant for the money. It was also the easiest 'standard' wireless bike computer I've ever set up.

They also do the Count 4, but the 8 seems to be on offer at the moment making it £2 cheaper than the 4

If you tight for cash you could always try your local supermarket. I believe Aldi, Lidl and Tesco all offer basic computers for little money but I have no experience of them. I am sure someone on here can tell you if they are any good.

must have had for a couple of years, unused, had to replace the batteries, but they are great, don't know why i hadn't fitted them earlier.

Is the magnet on your spoke close enough to the sensor? If you remove the sensor and the magnet, then move the magnet backwards and forwards very close to the sensor, you should hear a faint clicking.

The magnets have been fitted as per the instructions with a 5mm gap for the spoke magnet, and a 3mm gap for the cadence magnet, and I've tried adjusting the gaps slightly as well, to see if that helped. Will try removing the magnet and sensor later to listen for the clicking sound.

Thanks to everyone so far for their valued help and suggestions. Please keep them coming.

Good news. Daughter has picked me some new batteries up whilst she was in town. Hey presto, the computer now works..

Batteries.

Just seen the thread. Order some Duracell ones off ebay for about a pound each. Saves money. I used a cat eye double wireless for 3 years in all weathers on my commuter. Cracking little computer. Only replaced it with a Garmin.
