Sorry folks for being a wuss.... but I've put the bike away for a few days as I'm 700c x 23 I know I should have got some winter tyres but never got round to it, I will be back to the bike as soon as the snow warnings subside, I did get the bike out the shed this morning but decided against the bike commute at the last moment when I saw a few flakes of snow.

@ Simon. I reckon you should change your name for the time bein g;)^_^

I was going to ride tomorrow but the reported expected snow-fall from tomorrow afternoon onwards changed my mind. I suppose I could leave the bike at work if it's as bad as expected *thinks*.

You need a snow and ice bike.
I was going to spike up the Boardman CX, but with only patchy ice on one of my rural sections I came across a Motorcyclist on the floor and on the way home some fresh grass skid marks and then a Ford Ka on it roof in the bushes. This convinced me to not go that route, even if I can stay upright I do not trust the motons to not coming slinding round the corner on the 1cm of snow flakes and taking me for a ride on their bonnet!

Lot of peer pressure in cycling isn't there? I feel well guilty for getting the train these last 3 days. Totally irrational as we only have to answer to ourselves!

I do feel a bit of a fraud but as soon as the threat of snow has gone I will be back on the bike (Promise!!!!!!)
I'm there too mate. Soooooo want to cycle but someone the other day said that it was good that they'd only come off a couple of times over the last two years because of ice....and I must say...two times too many!!!

I am (some what pointlessly) chasing a very good Jan 2012 figure, in the hope that Feb stayed snow free so I could smash Feb as I lost all my bad weather days in Feb last year.

If I could get to work without the road newtwork I would give it a crack on a snow\ice ready bike, looks like fun!

I'm chasing a target of 4000 for the year, but I figure it's better to have a few days off in ice & snow than to ride in, break my collarbone, and have several weeks off the bike! I'm looking forward to the thaw...

Thats the way I am looking at it. Also this week I have been dreaming about March coming around, and I am never going to moan again about it being wet, well not when you can still ride in the wet with shorts and short sleeve top!

I'm off work because wife is unwell so the commuter is resting.

But my Trance and Alpinestars MTBs are primed and ready for action round the forest tomorrow in the virgin snow.

Snow is one of the biggest cycling events of the year, something to be embraced and enjoyed, not shied away from.
