Bike Lights.....Input

Hi all,

Can anyone tell me if the following lights are suitable ( or not) for commuting. Or would you recommend something else anfor what reasons

Hope you dont mind all of the questions but I value your experience and input. They are all avaialable at wiggle and I can pay using Paypal.

I have the Race maxx..its brilliant.....(no pun intended)
The good thing is no battery pack its all self contained just plug the charger into the unit..it's very well made, and the ally quick release bar mount is very good and works well

Ay ups get the most mention on here for front lights.
Dinote for the rear.

I'd personally go for AYups and a Blackburn Mars 4.0 for the rear
with a Smart 0.5 watt rear back up and a Cateye flashing front back up

Just because it's the most expensive doesn't mean its the best or the most suitable for your commute.

What do you mean by commuting? Urban lit roads, dark country lanes?

I like the Fenix P3D or L2D models myself. Extremely bright lights.

In the main its Urban lit roads, with some fast moving traffic on stretches. 40 mile round trip. I guess I really want to be seen more than see the road below.

Got my AY-Ups the other day, they are fantastic, but most of my commute is on unlit road. For an urban lit road i'd go for something that flashes. I passed somebody the other day who had a light that flashed four times quickly, paused the flashed again, if that makes sense. Very noticeable.

Those lights seem an awful lot of money for a 'be seen' light.

The AYUPs are individually adjustable (up or down). I have used them for 12mths and they have been excellent. I commute on lit roads and dark lanes and have had no probs with them.

Whatever you do, don't have a flashing red front light as well as a back light. I happened across someone using these this morning, and I didn't know for a second or two whether they were coming or going !!

There used to be a bike parked up regularly behind our office with lights like that, I've not seen it for a while tho.
