Hi :wacko:, not sure which forum to put this in but basically I am going on a bike trip in a few years and want to do a (basic) bike maintenance course.

I live in the north though and the only ones I can find are in the south (boo at London :tongue:), does anyone know of any further north (preferably the ones that are only half a day rather the expensive ones spread over weeks).

Thanks.

Is there an Edinburgh Bike Co Op near you

Yes. There's a bike maintenance course at the north pole in 2010. Contact Mr F. Christmas at 025 012 2010 for details.

I enquired with Mr. Christmas but apparently you have to be on some 'list'. He checked it twice but I wasn't on it. :biggrin:

That's very strange. I believe the criterion is that one has to be nice, which of course all cyclists are. Probably some IT cockup by one of the elves.

glad to hear positives about the 1 day intensive course, i'm doing it at newcastle on 27th september. Apart from the obvious money and hassle saving benefits in the longer term, I'm having something of a midlife crisis...you know the drill ; 'bored and fed up of the profession i been in for 20 years but hanging in another 15 yrs for early retirement+pension' so i needed mental stimulation / skills / knowledge in something ;
1) useful
2) that i give a flying f*** about and actually enjoy
3) that is nothing to do with work.

then if they sack me for laziness / apathy, i can at least maintain my bike on the cheap.....bike and camping kit, as long as i can maintain these i'd happily do without the rat race thank you very much.

(and i just bought a cycle carrier for my car as i thought it makes more sense to work on my own bike on the course)
Anyone else going ?
