"Don't lock your bike to another bike".

From the Department Of Stating The Bleeding Obvious.

Hurrah for the gimboid trouser cougher who pipes up that cyclists should pay tax, like motorists.

What.

Why do people not get it? It's NOT ROAD TAX.

Ahh, yes, the old 'well you could have better facilities if you paid tax' gambit. Ignore it, ain't worth it.

Was thinking the same thing - correct me if I'm wrong but don't councils maintain roads from council tax and bikes aren't subject to VED because they are zero emmissions?

Well, no, bikes aren't subject to VED because they're bikes. If they were subject to VED then they'd me exempt because they're zero emission.

Quite apart from Mark from Gravesend's apparent belief that cyclists cannot possibly own a car.

I hope he gets his tits caught in the mangle.

I've often wondered what to do if someone chains their bike to yours.

Obviously you could wait for a while to see if they came back, but they could have locked it up for the night or even the weekend.

Could you get someone official to cut the lock off?

It's a bike thief trick.

That's what I would worry about. But what would you do about it?

If you called the police, you would have to prove that the bike is yours. I don't carry my receipts around with me.

Are you within your legal rights to break a lock that someone else has erroneously (or intentionally) put on your bike? Or would that be criminal damage?
