Straddle the line, discord and rhyme
I've used Bike Shield and 3M helicopter tape, and I think the Bike Shield is much better. It's softer and more pliable so it shapes to the bike better. Helitape gets those sharp edges and the corners seem to lift up and trap dirt.
Problem with BS, apart from the price, is that you're constrained by the pre-cut shapes they give you in the packet. A big roll of the stuff, now that would be great.
