I like compact frames but decided to go up from my normal 52 size to a medium normal frame. The only reason was because it was such a good deal. The ride is very comfortable and I'm not cramped up or over stretched. A taller guy came up and said I've inspected your bikes geometry and it's meant more for my size. I thought what a knobber, it's fine for me.

Although some ppl get a bike fit I'd bet there's pro riders who prefer their frames on the extremities of the smaller end or the larger side. If one is comfortable after setting the stem and seat up then why should it matter that all your steeds are not all the exact same frame size?

Both my bikes are what I would consider to be at my limit, I can stand over the crossbars but there is very little clearance between me and the metal work. I find the bikes fit me well and are very comfortable to ride.

I am a 52 in old style and either small or extra small on a compact, feels great to me and that is what is important.

I read somewhere a lot of pros ride a frame which would generally be seen as too small for their height.

Can't recall why, but it's yet another example of what the pros do being irrelevant to what suits a recreational rider.

Seen as to small by whom? People who do not like changes maybe.

I think I'd be more concerned about what works for you. If I felt more comfortable on a frame designed for someone of a different size then I'd ride that rather than one I didn't feel comfortable on.

I find it interesting. I doubt anyone would go up to someone in a car and say it's too big/small for them. He was probably just trying to be helpful though.

If the points of contact fit you and the bike behaves itself well,it is right. Small frames permit a lower bar position.
Very small and large riders have to make do with poorly sized frames.

I think it's so they have more scope to set the bike up very racy.

As long as I breathe, I attack.
Pros tend to go for small framers i think for a more head down ass up "aero" fit , is it Ryder Hesedayl ( ? spelling police ) has a 13 cm saddle to bar drop .
