Why is it so difficult for manufacturers/retailers to tell us a bike's weight? Take the Verenti Insight, for example, from Wiggle. They give you the frame weight for various sizes, and the weight of the fork, but you have to check out the Q+A section to get any idea of total weight - and it is approximate, and often confused. Given that the bikes come with the same wheels, tyres, groupset, and finishing kit etc, in all sizes, why is it apparently SO difficult to weigh an example of each size, and publish the information?

I think its to do with a combination of manufacturer sizing not being equivalent, so one brands 55cm might be lighter but it may also be smaller and to do with the lack of standards for measuring total weight, depending on including accessories, pedals etc. Apparently the same thing happened with tyres where one brand would make seemingly "lighter" tyres because they'd label them up as a bigger size.

Rose and Canyon quote weights for their bikes - one of the size range, without pedals. It shouldn't be difficult for others to follow their example. The weight should be of the bike as offered for sale - without pedals.

Because they are all heavy bikes.

A mate has a rose bike and its nowhere near what is the stated weight.

Take some scales into a shop if it really matters to you. That's exactly what I have done for one of my bikes and continue to do so. I weighed bar tape, bars and other components, most were not near their claimed weights.
My light bike is sub 6kg which I'm pretty pleased with.
