Bikes and Bloomers...


... at the excellent York Festival of Ideas

YFoI is excellent and it's free (the vast majority of it anway). It is put on annually by York University and other partners across various venues of the city and covers a huge range of topics. There are exhibitions and lectures, often by some 'big names' in their respective fields. You usually need to book a ticket, but it doesn't cost anything - I've been to a few over the years and enjoyed them.

This one caught my eye - it looks specifically of the benefit of the bike for women in the early days with attention to the clothing hurdles the early pioneers had to get past, from a perspective of prejudice and design.
