I pootle along sometimes ... it can be refreshing to slow down and realise that you get there almost as fast. But I assume from an exercise point of view that pootling is not very energetic.

Pootling is good exercise; you burn off more fat than if you rush, apparently.

What about mimsering? My parents used to use the word "mimsers" to describe slow drivers. Can one mimser on a bike?

I used to have a Morris Minor with three distinctive speeds. They were pootle, trundle and hurtle. The latter involving a great deal of noise and shaking about with bits of rust flying off. Probably equated to about 70 mph but rarely achieved as there are not many stretches of road long enough to get up to that sort of crazy speed in my old Moggy. (4 door saloon not a traveller)
