I was suffering on the way home last night, 20 miles into a southerly headwind. Not nearly as much as the upright cyclists though, there's not much wind down here.
Breezy and very, very wet. Most of my bike kit is currently drying out. Really not looking forward to the return leg as the wind was at least behind me on the way in to work today.
Still dry here - the drizzle has only just started to arrive. Lucky it's my day off!
I did enjoy the wind last night, I passed some cyclist chappie, and I saw his eyes light up in an "I'll have that funny bike" kind of way. Pity for him, we were going into a serious headwind at the time which maximised my advantage. I was in a hurry though, so I didn't play with him as much as I might have done, staying tantalisingly close in front.
I started out today thinking, "Gosh! I'm going really well today*, obviously last week's commutes have got my legs back in* after the Christmas lay off". Then I realised it was the wind behind me.
The las couple of days its been 50mph stuff so I opted for the reasonably sheltered railway path instead of the road. Its adds nearly 10 mins to my commute but 90% of my road route would have been straight into that wind. Looking at the met office it was only 38mph I kind of feel cheated .
