Didn't there used to be a Gropec*nt Lane in London somewhere?

EDIT: And a lot of other places too!

Including York. It's now called Grape Lane.

If you couldn't afford a grope, then perhaps an ogle? As in Ogleforth, the street I happen to be in right now...

Whip-ma-whop-ma Gate, of course, a road so short the sign for it is about half it's length....

Not a street name, but a house I'd like is 1/2 (that's a half) St Andrew Gate. Although it must be a right bugger when you try to give it over the phone or online....

I see that article refers to streets being named after the professions on them. if we did that now, we'd have a lot of "Cheap Fashion Street" or "Takeaway Alley"...

As a kid we used to go down Pig Lane in St Ives (Cambs) as a shortcut. It then became built up and houses, youth club etc.

Then they built a Police Station....... It is now Pig Lane apart from a few hudred yards where it is "Broad Leas"
