I phoned. This is Haringey council. We have just about the highest council tax in the country, but the services do seem to work.

What? No reference to inter-dimensional time travel yet?!

The last black hole I rode over transported me back to 5th century Macedonia. Didn't like the beer.

What did they think of the bike?

I reported a giant opening in the road on fillthathole last week. As I approached this morning I was surprised and happy to see it had been repaired...............until I got close enough to see that filling (cake mix I think) had already sunk about 3 cm or so. I reckon the repair will have vanished by the end of the week!

I'm guessing you won't be calling BGR Bloomer though.

Haha. No. They'd need an advert saying "then suddenly, a massive hole appeared out of no where".

It's not that big a deal of a pot hole to be honest, just a crack across about a meter of the road and a few inches wide. I just don't like going over it, but it's slightly up hill so I also don't like going around it as I don't think people realise why I'm so far out in the road there when going slowly.

Holes are mainly filled round here, Wilts/Hants. worst was when it was dark or the holes were full of water along with the surrounding road and you couldn't see them, literally pot luck!

A few years ago now, living in Dundee, a road crew were out marking pot holes and broken manholes etc with the yellow spray paint.

They did the main road, but not the side road, which was in appalling state.

Keyline
One tube of marker paint aerosol
several pints
an extra 150metres of road 'marked up' for attention

two weeks later, all works complete!

splendid!

may not always work, but well worth a try.

Worth looking at what gets marked up on a certain stretch. It is easier to add to the works on a given stretch than to extend the bounds of the work.

I only know of one pothole large enough to cause me a concern. The ironic thing is, its on the only road to and from the local council depot. All their vehicles must drive over it each time they head back to the depot. You would think I shouldn't need to report it myself!

And its been filled in already. I didnt even need to complain! ;)
