Is there a vegetarian option?

Not that I've seen. Vegetarian Haggis is good though

I was trying bit of humour, didn't work did it?

Vegetarian haggis yes, can kind of closely replicate the real thing, In fact probably tastier than some of the cheaper brands of meat haggis.

Oh wait, look what I just found.

That's going to get the purists in a tizzy and made in Lancaster.

Haighs of Bolster Moor do a pork and black pudding pie. I thought I'd given you one, as a comparison with the fidget, but maybe not. Next time we hit he Kashmir I'll make sure you get to try one.

I've looked back through my tasting notes and the pork and black pudding pie is absent. That particular pie exchange had pork and pepperoni pie, pork and fidget and championship pork pies from Haighs. All pies scored highly with the championship pie scoring a perfect ten. They were part of a five pie day where I used pies as my primary source of calories on a mini tour through Teesdale.

The pork and fidget pie was literally a blind tasting because it was eaten in the dark by the River Tees near Barnard Castle and I'd like to resample one in daylight as I am sure that its taste was affected by the absence of sight.

A Kashmir liaison and pie exchange is certainly due. Let me know which Friday...

Black pudding has been a breakfast staple in the Rezillo household for the last few years. Grilled with scrambled egg and a slice of toast, it isn't too calorific and is enough to get away with just a light lunch later.

Of the brands that are readily available, our vote is, taste-wise, Clonakilty but we don't buy it now because it regularly has all sorts of chewy gristly and stringy bits in. Bottom of the heap is Bury Black pudding because it doesn't really taste of anything. The one we eat the most of is Simon Howie's, which is good grilled. Macleods seems to come top of the smaller suppliers and has got a plug here but we've tried it a couple of times and weren't that impressed - too greasy.

[edit] I have no idea why Howies is coming up as a hyperlink.
[edit edit] It seems to have gone.
[Final edit] After spending the last hour with various malware scans and carrying out add-on disabling, it looks as if this is a Cyclechat autolink issue linking to a sportswear retailer. Can I turn this off?

I love the stuff, my local butcher does the best in the world, but working in London i have to make do with the supermarket stuff which is ok.

Anyone else love the stuff.??

I'd ask for it without the bacon and the bread and with extra extra black pudding.

They do not know what they are talking about. How can it be better than a black pudding from Bury Market? The original and best

It's different but not necessarily the best. Bury black puddings have a unique blend of seasonings and herbs but are not to everyone's taste.

Howies kit is much loved by the MTB fraternity. Don't know much about how or why it appears as a hyperlink though.

In a Round Britain Quiz kind of a way, what links The Belgians, Black pudding and la Légion Étrangère?
