Shouldn't Sh4rkyBloke be posting footage of bad cycling as well to educate us all in examples of blind, aggressive, shortsighted... or just stupid cyclists?

If you look at the threads in commuting, you'll find plenty that complain about cyclists. I'm not sure that it's necessary to balance every 'anti' driver OP with content on bad cycling.

i'd hate that. the last thing i want is people filming each other and handing clips into the police. we all make mistakes at some point and there's enough animosity on the roads without promoting it further by one group of road users filming and clyping on everyone else

1) Your bog standard driver who thinks a driving plan is what junction they are going to take next. An advanced driver would do as the green car did and allow the cyclist space in case of emergency.

2) Do what that car driver did in a driving test and it will most certainly be a fail. But riding you must always be mindful that there are drivers who really shouldn't be there or just having a bad day. Coming into that situation I would start to slow down and have the brakes covered. I have seen it happen so many times that I can spot the situation happening a mile off.

3) WVM in a hurry. If a light has been green for some time then the chances are in the next few seconds it is going to turn to red. I could see what was going to happen in the next 15 seconds on the approach to the junction. It was poor planning on the part of the driver, would of probably had a collision if the driver came across the car in clip number 2.

You've only made 2 posts one here Kelsen.
Are you new to cycling?

Been commuting in and around London for 6 years and do regular club runs at the weekends so no, not new to cycling. Use to post on the former Cycling+ forum under a different name until the mass exodus to another forum, then lost interest apart from the odd lurk.

I wouldn't say they were bog standard (thankfully) as this sort of pass is not all that common (for me at least)... just plain inconsiderate and pointless as there were 2 lanes which he/she could have used.

I agree - I knew they were planning on coming onto my side of the road but assumed/hoped that with me approaching at about 20 odd mph they'd have waited... either that or that they were simply parking up on my side of the road and I could continue past them (probably muttering about them not waiting )... I really wasn't expecting them to blatantly pull right across in front of me at such a stupidly slow speed though!!! She must have known how slowly she'd do the move (having done it many times before?) so why not wait until the road is clear???? No apology or anything, it was as if I didn't exist. Just plain stupid.

As I said in the vid, I wasn't overly concerned by this guy - the overtake was fine (albeit quite fast - I was going at a reasonable lick when he blazed past) but it's round a bend where there are traffic lights (of course I'm assuming the driver is familiar with the road or he's a bit of an idiot for going so fast if he didn't!) and as there had clearly been traffic coming along towards us when he overtook (thus signifying that the lights were probably on green, and therefore might plausibly be changing very soon) it just seemed rather a daft and short-sighted move.

Agreed - but for drivers on the phone... that's not a mistake, it's arrogance and a blatant disregard for the law because they just assume/hope they won't get caught.:biggrin:!

I think the 1st overtake is normal everyday all the time stuff.
The 2nd situation looks to me just dangerous driving, I'm guessing they didn't see you.
3rd is just another rushed person who races instead of drives to places.

all in all the 2nd situation can be scary but the other two aren't worth you getting stressed over (if indeed you did)

Trusty, we don’t know each other well yet and in some respects I agree with the “anti-driver” element of your post, I don’t think it is healthy to be “anti” anyone.

But, you also write in such a patronising way that you are sure to offend, so have wasted an opportunity to ask and debate a valid point…more fool you.

I film every ride, be it on bike or motorcycle, I do so because after riding over 1,300 miles in a few months, I find that I now “need” to do so.

If you look at my posts (and videos’ they are all on you my you-tube channel) you will see that I don’t post endless vids of bad driving, if I did, I would have no time in my life to do anything else!!

In fact, I use the cam to thank those who drive well and I keep all the bad stuff for myself, just in case.

Lastly, I enjoy almost every ride...actually every ride….. and often post to that effect, check my posts you'll see.

So please, don’t come on here and take a pop at people, like me, who film rides for a very "real" reason when you clearly don’t know what your talking about …..…and haven’t bothered to check before opening your mouth.

If you want to debate a genuine question, May I suggest you do so with a less arrogant head on.

There was nothing "arrogant head" about what he said, he made valid points in a respectful manner.

I wonder if more drivers were aware that cyclists are increasingly filming as they go along, whether it might reduce their temptation for poor/ dangerous driving?

Respectful....You sure about that Lit?

...I dont record so that I can do impressions of "Dick Emery".....and I dont do it because its some sort of laugh...i do it because I was nearly killed by a motorist and was powerless to do anything about it.

Like I said, trusty has a point, but threw the opportunity to get any sensible debate going with his opening comments.
