Off to give blood in an hour, so no cycling today.

O- which can be used for any patient, so I am continually sent chasers and reminders (do go every 3 months).

Up to 48 from me now and just encouraged my 18 year old to sign up too.

Also made a stem cell donation 3 years back which for me amounted to just a very long donor day and a couple of nights expenses paid up in London town. I like to think it's all helped and do like to get my notification of where the blood has been used.

Well.. A year ago I was told it wasn't safe for me to donate my A+ blood as my Hg levels were too low (123 as opposed to the lower limit allowed if 135)
Yesterday, after the time away from donating, I had an appointment to see if my levels were acceptable & safe for me to lose ⅛ of my blood..
Happily, with an outstanding Hg level of 157, I was able to make my 73rd donation

From now on I'm hoping to donate every 5 or 6 months as opposed to 3 monthly.

Gave blood today, apparently blood was slow and they adjusted needle to push it in further mid donation. There was a fainter at our session today, but I was fine. Busy and didn’t get started till 45 mins later than appointment,

I fainted at it once - I put it down to it being morning and I didn;t used to eat much for breakfast in those days

It was a group from work and you were put on a trolley next to someone else - top and tail arrangement

The rest of our group reckoned it was due to the socks of the bloke next to me!!

not allowed to anymore

According to the nurses, it's usually the big guys who faint.

Keep it up @wiggydiggy, I have just clocked up donation 25 after about 6 years and 4 times per year. My actual completed donations are about 22 as I got turned away due to low iron twice and once because I was in contact with an infectious child (hand foot and mouth). Couldn’t avoid the latter as it was my own child 🤣 who got it from nursery.

I am actually sat opposite a Jehovah's Witness from Sweden in my local restaurant as I type this.
Seemingly there is some big Convention in Glasgow or something.

I think I'll refrain from showing him this thread or that I have had blood in the past...

... But, should I go over and ask if I can talk to him about Cyclechat? 🤣

dropped off a pint last night. Slight odd coincidence I donate near to home rather than usual near to work place, as they had early evening slot and I was was bang on the 12 weeks from previous donation. poor chap was trying to do sums in his head and thinking I hadn't had the correct gap. he then went to double check and sheepishly came back and said it was fine. I had pointed out that their own website had suggested that date so it must be fine
