I've just received this in the post and its definitely better than the Smart superflash - well it would be if I could work out a good way to mount it on my bike:wacko:. You could use it as a torch - apart from the fact everything is red.

I can't put it on the seat post as it mounts to the side and so my leg rubs it.

I have a pannier rack on the back and usually a pannier too. So the only place I can think of putting it is below the pannier on the seat stay. However I think the pannier is blocking out part of its potential:evil:.

Has anyone come up with any strange way to mount this light... I've been trying to work out if I could strap some kind of tube on top of my pannier rack and use that to fix it to.

I mounted mine to the empty disc brake mount on the rear of the Fujin, using just the bolt:

If I had a conventional rack, I think I'd probably use either the seatstay low down, or mount the tube from one of these:

I backed up the sliding action which holds the light onto the bracket with a zip tie.
It's a bit insecure for such an expensive light and I'd hate to lose it.
I mounted it onto the seat stay in the end (high enough to clear my heels), the light is so waterproof that spray is no problem.

I like the idea of using a stem extension bar to mount it up near the seat... which is where I would like to put it. I will experiment with the above ideas and see which one works for me. Thank you.

I did the same for a while with a cheap stemp around the seat post, see the bottom of this thread.

Now i have screwed the bit the light slides onto onto an old reflector that means that it points backwards without sticking out like it did before. Shame they dont do the mount the same as the previous rear light they did, dopplex or something similar.

Oh the mount is crap is it?

Hackbike, Id say that its one of a few let downs with the light, there are others but mounting it was a bit of a bodge job. The mounts okish, i just couldnt find somewhere (no pannies on my bike) to put it where i wanted it without it catching my leg, hence the mod. It seems quite a lot of people are complaining about this when coming to mounting it on a seat post.

I haven't got that problem with the lights as they never arrived and im not tempted to order off of ebay as the seller has poor feedback.I also wonder if I dealt with him before and didn't receive the goods.

Mine arrived yesterday I have two and yes the bracket is s***.

Very powerful light shame about the bracket and so now I have to find a way to fit it.

Well I tried Iceniner's idea but my reflector bracket isn't long enough. Tried one sitting round the the spares box... its almost long enough (if mounted up side down - to take advantage of the slope of the seat tube to get extra mm's), but it doesn't go around my seat tube. I tried combining the two ones... but they seem to have different screw nut thread bits that don't combine.

I might go via the LBS and see what they have knocking around in their spares box!!! Though feel guilty that I didn't buy the light there - though I suspect they don't sell it anyway.

Well I went into a bike shop yesterday and was approached by a helpful young man. I said what my problem was and that I was considering one of those space grip things since I was failing to get the bracket to work. He took it off (after complimenting me on the brightness of the light), and came back with it fixed.

Its now on the bike... and I'm waiting to see what it looks like tonight. I'm a bit worried that as I have it pointing down, it shines onto my silver pannier rack and maybe back into the car drivers eyes.
