Happened to my wife once on the canal. I was about 50 yards ahead of her, around the corner, a stupid bint went flying past me towards my wife, I knew they'd collide at the corner as there was no way the bint could slow down enough. My wife probably saved her from going into the canal.

Idiots.

They both looked to be going at a decent pace. At those speeds it would be safer to use the road.

If I ever decide to use a cycle path it would be because I was going slowly, especially near peds at a bus stop.

+1

Not a thing the camera cyclist could do. They were over to the left and almost stopped. The twonk that hit the camera cyclist is a twonk IMO.

Nobodys seemed to mention the ped in the black. Ok s/he's minding his/her business, but If s/he was standing *in* the bus shelter not *on* the shared cyclepath/pavement the whole incident may not have happened. What I mean is, ped's wouldnt just stand there like that on a road with cars going past. But they dont seem to think (or care?) about cyclists.

Main fault lies with the oncoming cyclist though, too fast and a bad reaction. In a poor layout like that, I wouldnt go that fast.

At the risk of sounding like a smart arse, if it’s a shared path, why should the ped not stand there – if it’s anything like the bus stops near me he was probably trying to get away from the smell of the p!ss…. ped in the shared lane, another reason why oncoming cyclists should have been going much slower or have been on the road – no excuse to cycle that fast in those conditions

There is a 15mph advisory speed marking on the path as you approach the bus stop. I'd say you should be doing 2/3s of that.

Very true. They are well within their right to stand there. But my point is it is a little inconciderate. I bet when that route was designed, they planned (if they thought about it for more than a second) for Peds to stand *in* the shelter, not behind it!

My point was, peds have different views about obstructing a cyclist compared to obstructing a 2 ton metal box. The only difference I can see is the metal box is more likely to kill you.

But, to defend the ped some more, they may have just been looking at the bus timetable! And if so, thats another design flaw.

I wasnt for a second blaming the incident on the ped. But you all agree that it would have been much less likely if they wern't standing there?

The only fault/s I can see is excessive speed (by the oncoming cyclist) and a poorly designed layout.

I wish I hadn't mentioned the ped now!

What an absolute nob. I would have wanted to get up and kick the crap out of him. I wouldnt have been on a cycle lane though.
I have a video of when i was in Holland, cycling along the cycle path on a nice evening, just cruising along, and had a cyclist with a few crates resting on the bars come towards me around a blind courner further over on my side then he should have been, i moved in, he moved over, and it was all good:becool:
Heres the video. I was in Delft, staying on Delftse Hout(i think it was called)
Sorry, rambling on. Back on topic!

Calling a child a bastard, who is a bastard, isnt as bad as calling them a little shoot is it? Which you lech, probably do when a young child annoys you. A young chav girl(about 12) spits at you, i bet you would call her a little shoot wouldnt you, you dirty old man;)
