I quite like Bluetooth headphones but not while riding, part of the fun of the bicycle is being part of the world, not cocooned away from it in my own little world.
I completely agree when I'm out for a leisure ride. When I'm commuting it's the same roads day in, day out so I listen to podcasts at low volumes for the really boring bits of the journey. I've tried varying my route but there aren't that many choices and at this time of year I just want the quickest route.

I notice that they sit above the ear. Doesn't this interfere with gasses if one wears them?
I do like them and am thinking of buying some for using on my commute, but being a speccy git can imagine it might be a problem.

There's a bit of a gap between the top of the headphones and your skull, so as long as your glasses aren't too chunky it should be fine. I wear normal cycling glasses with them with no problem

I have a few different routes to vary things a bit and am as much a people listener as watcher.

Not something I find with the aftershockz as they are not noise isolating in the same way bunging a bud in your ear is, blocking out sound irrespective if you are actually listening to anything or not. I'm still quite aware of the surrounding noises. Nearest I can liken it too is listening to the car radio with the windows open.

Cheers for the useful posts about earphones. A few to go and look at then, thanks.

I have only used earphones on the bike once, but not sure if I want to regularly or not yet. Just wondering if it helps on the hills and when fighting the wind at times, that's all.

Its not so much the does it/doesn't it block hearing thing for me (been here long enough to steer clear of that one) more that I like to get lost in the sound of what I'm doing, so even utility riding, that is more the world around me than lost in my own playlist or talking book.

Even at home or in the a car, I'll mentally tune out the other people talking to the point of rudeness.
I guess my analogy for me listening to music is like driving or walking while reading a book.

Just out of interest, did the OP eventually buy any wireless earphones? I'm thinking of getting some for running and bridleway cycling but there isn't much info, except for the powerbeats 2.0

I never did, no. Still tempted though, but found other things to spend on. Far more choice out there now though.
