Sort of wish I'd seen this a while back. Just bought a pair of Ruark Audio MR1 MarkII's. They're chuffing amazing but cost a bomb - and I was deprived of the opportunity to try 100 different speakers and pontificate needlessly before buying the 1st one I'd tried.
Look good. What's the bass like?

I've only had them for just over a week and I'm still working through different albums to see how they sound different to my front room setup. There's a real warmth to the bass. They sound amazing really, but like I said they were way more than I intended to spend. They're hooked up to an Arcam rDAC so can't really comment on the Bluetooth connection (never tried AptX before.) Using them on my desk, but they're capable of filling my office if I'm over on the other side.

Sadly, my Zeppelin seems to be dying. Doesn't accept the iPod any more and there's a noticeable background hum/buzz when powered up. Also keeps dropping the signal on the 3.5mm input. All in all it might be finished.

I have permission to replace it in a couple of months and the budget is £500 roughly. The simple thing to do would be to buy the current wireless Zeppelin but I'm tempted by the Naim Mu-So QB or even the Sonos Play 5.

I'm not an audiophile but I know a few here are. I only ever play music via Amazon Music Unlimited and Alexa these days so are these the best options at that price point?
No idea how old the Zepp was before you bought it... but if it's dying already, I wouldn't be tempted to buy another. Maybe I'm unrealistic but I expect to get a couple of decades out of any electronic equipment i buy.

I'd have to put up with Ken Bruce
true, but look at it this way- only for about 6 minutes... phone in, get past the researcher's 'interview' to make sure you're sane, then answer 10 or so music related questions asked of you by Ken Bruce and take the speaker [providing you've a marginally better memory from your teenage years than the other poor soul]!

PS I wouldn't do it but then I don't want another speaker - got a small battery operated Japanese one which lights up when it plays music and tells you when it has a 'row battewy'.

I've got a Marshall kilburn which is an older rechargeable version of the Stanmore. It's got a lovely rich bassy tone which is easy powerful enough to fill a room. Battery seems to last ages.

There are other better speakers out there, but they don't say Marshall on them

Only problem is that the controls don't go to 11
I'm very tempted by this one purely because the volume does go up to eleven...

...and it's only £50 [edit] ...or £32 after blagging an Ebay seller :okay:
