Blumin lousy this morning

Woke up this morning at 5.00am to snow and wind. I had to walk part of the way to work but was able to cycle once I got on to the main roads. Had a chat with a fellow commuter who was on his way home from work at a junction and gave a wave to 2 others. It was nice to see less traffic and suprised motorists were giving me room that did pass me. Coming home tonight at 6.00pm the snow had vanished. Anyone else get caught up in it......

No snow here just 0.4 inches of desperately needed rain. First rain for weeks too.
Chapeau to you for braving it in those condtions. Summer is on its way though, a swallow flew over my house earlier - 1st of the year here

no....i'm ashamed to say i had already made my mind up to use the car last night due to feeling a little unwell, hadn't seen any forecasts so wasn't expecting the bad weather i'm sort of glad i did take the car......but at the same time still felt guilty getting in the car this morning.
Did see a few out on their commute....they didn't look like they were having fun.....no snow on the ground on my route but it was raining/sleeting sideways and blowing a hooley......

Worst day commuting i think i've ever known, it wasn't this bad in the Winter.Left home this morning at 6.25 in a blizzard, strong wind mostly behind but snow swirling all around,commute home awful, strong headwind almost blown to a standstill and raining as well.

I cycled in this morning and found it a complete nightmare.
The Highway Code must have changed overnight to include a new ruling where "any motorist being caught in unexpected snow may, with no lawful excuse, use a bus/cycle/taxi lane wherever he or she finds it, regardless of who is already using said lane." Ridiculous; about 5 cars tried to cut into *MY* bus lane (no buses) in front of me, what a load of twonks.
I'm fed up with cars approaching busy RABs using the bus lane as an extra lane, I end up having to wait behind huge lorries and vans, or ride on the pavement. (I refuse to filter between lanes on certain RABs as on approaches to busy RABs as everyone ends up cutting across lanes and I just don't trust drivers to check their mirrors.)
Then on my way home a bus (writing a letter tomorrow...) cut me up then when straight across me into a bus stop then had the temerity to wave at me out of his window. GRRRRR. :-(
Then I got onto a little side road by my house and a woman heading towards me, indicating right (across me) just pulled out into my path, had to brake to stop cycling into her little girl's door (wasn't in a child seat)
Is the whole world totally retarded? (Hopefully no offence caused at that word, just having a rant, hope not to annoy etc etc ad nauseum)
And to top it all off my dog's just been sick in the living room :-( I'm laughing now, it's the only way to cope!

Rather refreshing this morning - was a bit cool on the way home (had waterproofs on on the way in), so it's back with the winter top tomorrow

Terrible journey into work but then it was way INTO work! Got to see the Sun whilst there then the worst wind ever in my face all the way home. One good point was the Woodhead was closed to high sided vehicles so back Moor was nice and quiet and the Moor itself was ok too. Just took forever and a lot slower to get there. Brew (tea) waiting for me courtesy of herself. Not the worst day ever but a shocker after last week. Gez

It was blowing a gale and raining sideways when I awoke at 6 this morning, apparently it was snowing for a while during the night but I saw none of it. I went back to sleep and awoke again at 8 to get ready for work and the wind was still blowing but the rain had relented. I left at 10 and had a NE headwind all the way to work, the windchill was staggering and I resorted to wearing my thick winter jersey and base layer and still felt the chill on my chest! Had a some rain towards the end but not enough to soak me.

Coming back was a little easier, slightly warmer than this morning, drier and with a slight tailwind all the way back so not too bad in all.

Managed to avoid the snow, but not convinced that the near-freezing rain blowing like needles, directly in my face, was any better.
No problems with traffic, though. Just missed the company of fellow cyclists. Are they all teachers and on holiday?

I made a mistake this morning. After yesterdays near blizzard snow, I checked the forecast. Not great. However, I was mentally all set to ride in to work. I figured the forecast wasn't great, but if I could drag myself out of the door on the bike today, I could do it most days.
So last night I got all my kit ready.
This morning, the alarm went off. I thought about it...
I hit snooze
and again
and again. Figured I'd drive in.
When I did get up. I got dressed, got my breakfast, took the dog out, for a leisurely walk.
That's when I realised I made a mistake. Yes, it was cool and I'd have ended the ride with 'corned beef legs', but it wasn't that bad. No breeze to speak of. Bright and sunny.
Real pity I'd left it too late to swap back. I've been looking out of the window and kicking myself for the last 4 hours....

Freezing rain in the face aint no fun, i had the snow in my eyes; what are you supposed to do wear goggles and try and wipe every few seconds or what?

I forgot to mention; my Cyclechat buff worked a treat and I didn't suffer with the icy wind and sleet, really pleased I bought one now. Apart from cycling to work in the snow I had to get changed asap to clear snow in the yard for the container wagon so we could unload it and we did that practically outside for 3hrs.....Cheers for the feedback

If i remember correctly there was some concern that the buff was on sale too late as the Winter was almost over, wasn't too late for you was it bicyclos?
