After a bit of advice please

Want to upgrade the BB5s on my CX team to BB7s

Can I just buy and change the calipers over as a straight swap or is there more too it?

The bike has the original rotors and I have removed the crossbar brake leavers

I presume I would need the road BB7s and not the MTB version?

No, put the bb7s on, they're easier to adjust for both inner and outer pads.

If you have removed the cross top braker levers, you'll need to add some inline cable tension barrel. You'll need road version which are silver in colour.,

The inline cable tension barrels were added when the lbs took the top brakes off

Ok, finally got round to fitting these

Is it right that the cable adjusters that were on the BB5's don't fit the BB7's?

There is no internal screw thread on the BB7's so have fitted them without..
Is this ok?

You can use inline cable adjusters but they'll work without. Just take up the slack when you pinch the cable on the caliper. Avid do sell inline adjusters, there's some on eBay. They just allow you to fine tune the lever feel by tensioning the cable.

I've got them on this bike but didn't have them on my last build, just lift the caliper arm slightly when you screw the cable down tight.

These are what you need if you want add inline adjusters. These are for a pair, you can get a specific avid version for the brakes too but are about £20 pair. Just ensure they will take a brake cable outer and aren't just for gear cables.
