Hi all.
Just a maintainance question regarding tektro lyra disk pads. The background to the question is.
My neighbour bought the bike new 2 yrs ago.It has never ever had any maintainance despite my offers.
Now the brake levers are touching the handlebars when applied. It does stop however. Can you look at this for Me? was the question.
I have taken the pads out and they have a level 2mm of friction material left(measured on a micrometer).I know there is loads of adjustment on the cables ,as they have never been touched.
Are these pads worn out?
I have no new ones to compete them to.
What would the thickness be new?
Im new to bike disk brakes.Changed loads on motorcycles, cars and hgv's but these are obviously a lot thinner.
Thanks in anticipation.

Loads of life left at 2mm, try the barrel adjuster, you may get away without pulling more cable through.

One thing to watch for is sometimes the substance used to glue the pad on can be quite thick and this has a very negative effect on braking if you wear down to it.
