Try them out see what you think. VFM isn't just down to components

You can try the Allez at an Evans and the Boardman at Cycle Republic (not Halfords, part of same company)

The Allez will feel faster (if that's what you want looking at your moniker)...on skinnier tyres, a bit lighter probably. The red Allez will be much faster than the black ;)

Thanks for the reply vickster.

What is the reason for the red being faster than the black?

Also I think it may have been this Boardman that I originally seen in the shops

As the title suggests, I am hoping someone can advise me on which is the best value for money, mainly between the Boardman CX Comp (http://www.halfords.com/cycling/bikes/road-bikes/boardman-cx-comp-bike) and Specialized Allez 2018 (http://www.bikescene.co.uk/Specialized-Allez-13124-32-0.html).

Which has the better specifications and would you go with for day to day road cycling?

In my opinion; that boardman CX is the best value for money. - 9 Speed versus the Allez 8 speed, CX has decent discs & calipers + Great tire clearance for past 35mm tires (incase you want to go offroad or do some touring/hybrid)

And from what I can tell, the CX has more eyelets for mudguards/racks. -So, the Comp is way more prepared for more scenarios than the Allez, for no compromise at all. Total winner for me
