I have just got into road cycling and am looking at boardman team road bike (non carbon) from halfords and having a 10% discount i get the bike at £900 is this a good buy or is there another bike out there that is just as good or the same value for money

It gets great reviews all over the place, go with what feels right for you, have a test ride on a number of bikes (same price range) before deciding. I have the Boardman Team CX which I love, but I test rode a few other brands and narrowed a long list down over a period of time before opting for the Boardman.

The people on here who own one seem to love them too, so you can't go far wrong with a Boardman

IMO Boardmans are good value if you have previous good experience of your local halfords then id go for it i have the Road Comp and i love everything about it unless there are significant differences that you prefer between the two id have a look at the Comp and save yourself a bit of cash.

Hope this helps

Had my road team just over a month now an love it, replaced a cube peloton race under warranty. Agree about your local halfords tho, they can be very hit and miss.

The sram apex is real easy to use, you'll be surprised at how quick you'll learn how to use it, took me only a few miles (few gear changes as testers) going from Shimano shifters to getting used to the sram way of doing it.

Yeah ill be taken the bike home to build my dd has the boarmn team hybrid ;)

If your capable of doing that then id go for it they are genuinley nice bikes to ride im well over the 250 mile mark on mine which is 3 ish weeks old and its a pleasure to ride as said alot of bike for the money.

I know what your saying about the Sram gears but after using the Shimano Sora on the Boardman Road Race i deffinatly prefer the Sram all the gears on the 1 lever is much easier for me. Im sure you will get some other posts from different make owners recommending there bikes for other good reasons so hope you can make your decision.

i looked at these and know that theyre the same spec as the carbon one that is £300 more, not much difference in the weight either...ive got the boardman pro carbon which is an amazing bike, bit more money but well worth it....as you get in to your cycling i think youll probably go for carbon within a year...i did....boardman biles are excellent value and quality i would recommend any of them....
