Pointless bodge - no need for it - doesn't look well fixed - not much fun if it drops into your drivetrain.

Why would anybody even think that might be a rational idea? I can only presume the idea is to keep the chain clean, but it will strip off any lubrication very much quicker than would otherwise be the case, and will add effort to pedalling to no real benefit.

Even a bodge should be giving some benefit.

3/10 for duck tape work. Should be a lot neater.
I'm also of the opinion that after riding for 30 seconds the brush would be kicked off the chain so it was barely making contact, if at all.

Coming soon from this inventor - a stiff-bristled thingy to sweep away your intimate bum fluff as you pedal - or at least that's their pitching of it.

I have seen factory fitted oil-soaked sponges used on balers and other farm implements with chain drives to clean and lubricate the chain when in service.

I can't think of the manufacturer who did this now but think it was Soviet made.
