I see lots of YouTube type clips saying 7-10 minutes at 180° will give you the perfect boiled egg.
I tried it a while ago with okish results ie they were edible.
The best results were when I did them for (i think) 11 minutes deliberately for hard boiled egg sarnies.

Surely you can't get boiled eggs from an air fryer? Air fried eggs, possibly.

Is this going to be one of those things where in 20 years time children are going to say "why do we call them boiled eggs, Mummy/Daddy, when we don't cook them in boiling water?"

I think the point is that they come out exactly the same as they would in boiling water...... and why not? All the water does is evenly heat the egg as would an air fryer.
As they say, we shouldn't knock it if we haven't tried it.
As an eg a friend gave me one of those plastic microwave egg poachers and it worked fine. 50 seconds at 2/3rd power and I had a poached egg.

But why?

The main benefit of air fryers is that they are quicker and use less power than a full size oven. With those times, you aren't gaining much at all over regular boiling, and probably not saving much power either.

Fully agree.
Saves water and washing the pan though.

I've become a big fan of basic 1/2 egg omlettes in the last year or so, to boost my protein intake without much hassle and not too much expense, given my better half is vegan. No more than 90 seconds in our microwave.

It shocked me just how much more energy is needed to boil a pan of water, add the egg(s) and then use a load more water to cool the eggs down if you don't want to wait "forever" for them to cool down on the kitchen top.
