Craig's Bond is almost an exact replica of Dalton's - that is they are closer to the sadistic but vulnerable literary original. Even the first two films each did follow the same pattern. The difference is that Dalton had the misfortune to be Bond during the nadir of the character's popularity after Moore's ludicrous corset-bound Bond.
I liked the Bond played by Dalton, again he looked like he could have been trained to kill without hesitation and act ruthlessly to get the job done. Neither Dalton or Craig look like their Bond would be recognised in every bar and club in every country, which was always a daft concept for a secret service spy or agent.^_^

I'm just worried James Bond might not be working for our side.

Me too. I think he's still my second favourite after Connery. Craig third, then Lazenby. I never liked either Moore or Brosnan, who were both out-acted by their co-stars and their gadgets...

I'm not just saying that to buck a trend or just to go against popular opinion for the sake of it either. I honestly and fully believe that even if not right at this moment in time, people will soon enough look back on Craig as redifining the character for the better.

The problem always has been that actors from Moore to Brosnan were always literally living in Connery's boots and living 'his' character. Casino Royale was a (very much needed) stylisitc reboot in all senses, and I think Craig delivers the nuances better than Connery ever did. Its not just the actor's portrayal, its the general tone of the movies. Of course, it hinges on the strength of the script writers going forward, but as long as they aren't too silly or determined to return to a status quo I think we'll soon be talking about two Bond 'eras', and more favourably about the second. The irony is that I steadfastly refused to buy into the reboot originally and only saw CR after QOS came out. Solid convert now though and am massively looking forward to getting out to see Skyfall.

Just my opinion like.

As for the rest of the Bonds, I liked Brosnan but I think that had something to do with growing up with Goldeneye and Tomorrow Never Dies rather than Dr No and Thunderball. I also think Dalton tended to be under-rated.

If we're making lists, Im going to throw another one up as someone above mentioned the rather pedestrian Adele - Skyfall effort;

Theme Songs;
1. The Living Daylights
2. A View To A Kill
3. You Know My Name (Casino Royal)

No Goldfinger in sight.

I saw it this evening i thought it was very good not to over the top like the last couple had been i love all of them though tbh so im not the best judge. Few cheesey lines but isnt that what the films are all about. Thought the baddy was a bit limp wristed (litteraly) but in general a very good film.

Dont see why people kicked up about the beer instead of the usual Vodka Martini who cares ??? Did think Bond looked way to thin and gaunt and he deffinatly runs like a wrongun!

And for what its worth
1.Moore
2.Craig
3.Connery
4.Brosnan
5.Lazenby
6.Dalton

I love the Bond, films, all of them, even through the Moore period, though he did make some shockers! My fave is Diamonds are Forever, though its not the best. I liked all of the first three Brosnan Bonds, but the last was a real horror with some truly awful CGI, and what where they thinking with that invisible car?

The latest batch have been very very good, a whole new version od Bond, the latest film is FAB, though it does lose pace in the middle, and the ending is...different.

Just go and enjoy the films, don't take them seriously, just enjoy them for what they are, a couple of hours of fantastic cinematic nonsense to take your mind off the crap of the day.

Did anyone see Top Gear's Invisible car on their Bond Special on Monday?

Actually, a Transit van, and surprisingly good! Not from the side so much, because the wheels still showed, and the image lagged a bit, but the view from behind was almost there. I reckon to someone not paying proper attention (IE, a whole lot of average road users!) it could easily be missed. And then hit.

Downside, it needed it's own generator to run the screens, so it was hardly practical... (assuming any invisible vehicle is practical!)

Yes, I saw that too, it was a bit fun, I thought the Lotus that they rigged up to go under water was fun.

Went to see it last night and I thoroughly enjoyed.

It's different to Bond films of the recent past (in a good way) and without giving anything away, it seemed to me like they were deliberately realigning the franchise so future films will have more of a Connery era vibe.
