Inconvenient People by Sarah Wise is excellent. it's the story of lunacy laws in victoria england... it's a great read, full of warmth and often funny... although some parts are frustratingly awful (the subject matter, not the actual book).

The Final Voyage of Donald Crowhurst is one of the best books i've read.

i'm into non-fiction and biogs at the moment and the above two are among the best ones i've read.

Dan Brown - Inferno.

I avoided the Dan Brown Da Vinci hype completely but I accidentally found myself reading Inferno before I knew it was by Dan Brown as it would have put me off, and it's well worth a read, I'd guess it's a mix between history/thriller.
