Can anyone help me identify a book that I half-remember from my childhood? I must have been 4 or 5 years old, so roughly 1977. It was an illustrated children's book, in which bipedal dogs wore aprons and built penny farthing bicycles in an old fashoined factory. I think the story culminated in a bicycle race. Maybe dogs vs cats? At one point, one of the dogs uttered the phrase "Bob's not my uncle", which was very funny. This book seems to have been very influential on me, given my fondness now for bicycles, making things, and aprons. For some reason though, I'm more of a cat person.

Any ideas what this book might have been? A web search hasn't turned anything up. I'd love to find another copy.

The only thing I can remember is "Go, Dog. Go", but they didn't build bikes...

Thanks for the suggestions so far, but I'm afraid it wasn't either of those books. I hope that when I do find it, it turns out to be as amazing as I remember.
